Half in and Half out!

As we entered Alaska ~ Had to wake Adam up and dont we look well traveled?

Thinking of the Lechners ~ Tons of Intarsa here

The boys and Santa at North Pole Alaska.
So we are finally here. Ending day 6 in Fairbanks with a new agenda ~ But I will fill you  in on the last two days first. We all slept in as it is hard to think of bed when it is still light out at midnight. Left a little campground outside of Whitehorse in the Yukon about 1PM after spending a little time down at the lake and stopped for a few things in Whitehorse so really didnt get on the road until about 2. Then we traveled the absolute longest part of our trip to the Alaskan border. The road was terrible and we could only go 35-50 mph. However, the Mtn ranges were so stunning it almost made it worth it. Coupled with the bad road we were not seeing any animals until almost the border. We did finally see a black bear, two bald eagles, a moose and a porcupine right as we were coming into the US. Finally made it to Alaska and we stayed right past the border. Made it to Tok Alaska this morning where we shopped in the All Alaska store and visited with Pearl Jorgenson and then went to visit with Spike Jorgenson, who are originally from Spearfish, now winter there and who Mark has done work for. The boys were facinated by him, his home that is filled with mounts and pelts, the airplane in his back yard and the photos and stories he shared. We got to see many of his record holding sets of horns and photos of hunts from Spearfish to Africa. Very fun time! While there, he convinced us that we should have followed our instincts and planned to see a few different things while we are here. So tomorrow we will head even further North to Deadhorse Alaska, and the Artic Ocean. This will mean an additional 1000 miles on our trip but we all agree it will be worth the time and travel. We will do this and then we will head into Denali National Park and the Tetkenitka campground for 3 or 4 days for some hiking and the boys Jr Rangers program. Then we will spend some time in Anchorage and onto Seward with as little car time as possible we hope.
The boys got to see Santa today at North Pole Alaska and meet 4 of Santas reindeer.
The weather has been amazing. 78 yesterday and in the 70s today. Very very nice. The mosquitoes are truely as big as they say ~ the size of a quarter and come in flocks. Everyone is doing well with the time in the car time ~ It has been so pretty I havent read 1 page of my book. I am not sure when we will have internet again but I will try to post as soon as I can! Now we will be hoping for Grizzly bears, polar bears, carribou, and Dall sheep photos. Really, just the polar bears would be enough for me!
